This work analyzes the relationship between symbol, form, and language through typography. It explores how typographic characters can become containers that are either empty or filled with meaning, and investigates what happens when typography enters into dialogue with tools and processes that are not its own, from an approach inspired by architecture.
Aquest treball analitza la relació entre símbol, forma i llenguatge a través de la tipografia. Explora com els caràcters tipogràfics poden esdevenir contenidors buits o plens de significat, i investiga què passa quan la tipografia entra en diàleg amb eines i processos que no li són propis, des d’una aproximació inspirada en l’arquitectura.
The first approach to the topic begins with a formal transformation of symbols.
A collage of typographies creates new compositions that lose their communicative function.
La primera aproximació al tema parteix d’una transformació formal de símbols. Collage de tipografies per formar noves composicions que perden la seva funció comunicativa.
The second approach to the topic translates typographic tension into geopolitical tension. It seeks to represent spaces in conflict through typographic compositions that use letters from the languages spoken in those regions.
The result is symbols that become filled with meaning but lose their practical function.
La segona aproximació al tema tradueix la tensió tipogràfica a una tensió geopolítica. Busca representar espais en conflicte a través de composicions tipogràfiques que utilitzen lletres de les llengues parlades en aquests espais.
El resultat son símbols que s’omplen de significat però que perden la seva funció útil.
The final approach to the topic is based on a text from Adolf Loos’ “ORNAMENTO Y DELITO”. It seeks to approach typography from the perspective of architecture and explores what happens when the letter crosses into tools and processes that do not belong to its own practice.
L’última aproximació al tema parteix d’un text del llibre “ORNAMENTO Y DELITO” de Adolf Loos. Pretén acostar-se a la tipografia des de l‘arquitectura i planteja què passa quan la lletra travessa instruments que no li són propis de la seva pràctica.
